Hot August Nights Car Show Held Every August in Reno
HAPPY MOTORING
Hot August Nights Car Show, held every August in Reno, Nevada with some 6,500 participants, is adding a women’s only event. The show has grown over the years since its inception in 1986 from some 50 entries to its current
numbers. The show takes over two cites, Reno and Sparks, drawing some 100,000 visitors to the area.
If you love music, cruising, showing off your classic or gazing at classic cars, this show is for you. Main headliners fill the stages, there is a swap meet held at Baldini’s Casino in Sparks, Mag Auctions, and the Big Boy Toy Store open free to the public.
Two years ago, Hot August Nights added Virginia City, Nevada to its
locations for their kickoff weekend, consuming two days in the historic town. The main street will remain closed to all traffic during the event, and the classic cars on display will cover the entire length of the town.
With the growing popularity of cars with women and their love for their automobiles, Hot August Nights is adding new elements to their 2018 event: Women with Wheelz Car Show, seminar, and Recycled Rides car giveaway. Teresa’s Garage radio show has partnered with Hot August Nights to offer a day for the ladies that will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno.
The Car Show registration will be open to female Hot August Nights participants only, but the car giveaway and seminar will be open free to the public. The Car Show will feature women-owned classics and will be located in Lot Two next to the main staging area.
W o m e n h a v e b e e n car enthusiasts for some time and their numbers continue to grow each year. This show is not part of any movement; it is only designed with the ladies in mind.
The seminar will feature three iconic women from the automotive and racing industry. The women will discuss their experiences and passion for the auto industry, which has been a field dominated by men. Their goal is to encourage and energize the next generation of women to become technicians, racers and car enthusiasts, something that is lacking in today’s job market. The seminar will include audience participation.
After the panel, a car giveaway, courtesy of Allstate and Caliber Collision as part of NABC Recycled Rides, is scheduled for two recipients in need. One car will be donated to a breast cancer survivor chosen by Moms on The Run, and another will be donated to a female veteran. It will take place at 4:30 p.m. on the main stage outside the Grand Sierra Resort.
Recycled Rides is a unique program in which insurers, collision repairers, paint suppliers, parts vendors and others collaborate to repair and donate vehicles to deserving individuals and service organizations in local communities
throughout the country.
Over 1,000 vehicles have been donated through the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program since its inception in 2007. Thanks to the efforts of many NABC members, the program’s ripple effect has made a positive difference in the lives of thousands of individuals who have received vehicles or benefited through the services provided by nonprofit organizations who have been recipients of Recycled Ride.
The seminar is free and open to the public. Awards will be offered to three Women with Wheelz Car Show participants during the seminar that will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino’s convention hall.
So ladies, rev up your engines for a day of fun-filled events.
