Willys Whippet Or Men, They Both Have Problems With Timing

whippetDear Windy, we sure enjoyed your youtube video on your Willys Whippet cabriolet. My husband David is trying to help his friend Howard with a Willys Whippet 4 door 4 cylinder flathead and is having a problem with the timing. I hope I have this right “he needs to know where the mark on the flywheel is pointing to?”

Melissa

Well Melissa, thank you so much for watching the youtube video and for reaching out to Teresa and I for some guidance. We love to talk to those who share the same passion for old iron. Girl, you know whether it involves mechanics or men they all have problems with timing at one point or another!

Since I am a sleeve valve engine and not a flat head 4 cylinder, I need to pick my owners brain for advice. Teresa gave me the run down on where the timing marks would be on your particular model and how to set the timing. It is really quite simple. I will have Teresa fax or email you the layout and the proper procedure in hopes of getting this cousin of mine running. We need the oldies to be back on the road to give us a run for our money!

My windshield is still fogged up after reading the question. I just love getting fan mail. Happy Motoring
